For Dallas Cowboys fans, the news hits particularly hard. Allen, a stalwart on their offensive line for twelve seasons, was a vital cog in their Super Bowl XXX victory in 1996. He wasn’t just a champion, though; with 11 Pro Bowl selections and a place on both the 1990s and 2000s All-Decade Teams, Allen’s talent was undeniable.

The Cowboys described Allen’s impact in a heartfelt statement: “Larry, known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, was one of the most respected, accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL.” His size and power were legendary, with a memorable feat of bench-pressing over 700 pounds during the offseason. But beyond the physical prowess, Allen was “dependable” and “an inspiration,” a true teammate who embodied the spirit of competition and winning.

Drafted by the Cowboys in 1994, Allen’s versatility shone through. He played every position on the offensive line except center, a testament to his adaptability and mastery of the craft. While his final two seasons were spent with the San Francisco 49ers, he officially retired as a Cowboy, his legacy forever intertwined with the team’s storied history.

Allen leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife Janelle, his children Jayla, Loriana, and Larry III, and countless fans and teammates who cherished him. Memorial service details are forthcoming, but one thing is certain: the impact of Larry Allen, the man and the football titan, will be felt for years to come.
